What’s Included in an MOT check?
The checks our engineers will go through during an MOT includes your seatbelts, horn, mirrors, exhaust, brakes, tyres and body condition etc. It ensures that all of these components operate efficiently and that they are in a good condition. If we do find something wrong with one of these parts, we will give you the option to have us repair what’s necessary, carrying out only the work that’s needed for your vehicle to pass its MOT re-test.
Why do I get advisories with my MOT?
It’s important to realise that an MOT certificate confirms that, at the time of the test, without dismantling it, your vehicle meets the minimum acceptable environmental and road safety standards required by law. It does not mean that this is the case for the length of time the certificate is valid. An MOT certificate is no guarantee of the mechanical condition of your vehicle. However, if we notice something on inspection that might affect the mechanical condition of your vehicle or any future MOT tests if they aren’t checked or fixed within the year, we let you know. This is what is called an advisory. It’s put in place, so customers are aware of any issues spotted that aren’t included in your MOT.
What happens if I fail my MOT?
If your vehicle fails the MOT test, do not fear – We offer a wide range of repairs at affordable prices. We will contact you with the reasons why your vehicle failed and let you know a repair plan to get it sorted. You don’t have to get your repairs conducted with the garage that undertakes your MOT. We supply you with why your vehicle failed and can provide a quotation for repairs if required which we can also carry out. It is important to bear in mind that your vehicle cannot be driven on the roads, unless to or from a garage when it has failed its MOT.
